Discover Ogliastra by boat
Discover Ogliastra, the new Mareogliastra Lines itinerary for groups, is a boat tour between the San Gemiliano tower (Tortolì) and cala Sisine (Baunei), with stories on board that combine the fascination of science with the lightness of entertainment.
The tour includes sailing south between Basaura beach and Porto Frailis. Along the way, charm and history intertwine with the sight of the historic Spanish tower of San Gemiliano and the passage of Capo di Bellavista, which introduces a geography full of contrasts after the view of Basaura beach and the beach in Porto Frailis from the boat.
After the visit of the red rocks, the tour encounters the islet of Ogliastra – a small rocky outcrop, a protected area teeming with local flora and wildlife. The landscape opens onto low, jagged relief, with views that invite to slow down to fully enjoy them. From here, the gaze sweeps towards the mountains of Ogliastra: it will be immediate to understand why this Sardinian territory is called the island within the island.
Continuing northwards, we will stop at iconic places such as Pedra Longa, the Bay of Forrola, the beach of Baus and punta Giralidi, and you will be able to admire them thanks to a slow navigation, which gives you time to enjoy the natural spectacle of one of the most unspoilt areas of Europe.
You will pass the wall of the Grotta dei Colombi (Pigeon Cave), an opportunity to explore the geological history of the region and the importance of this area for flora and fauna.
Passing capo Montesanto will mark the entrance to the gulf of Orosei, renowned for its spectacular sheer cliffs, more and more imposing, with a stratigraphy that recounts geological processes spanning millions of years.
We will discover Portu Quau and Portu Pedrosu, the famous cala Goloritze and the beach of the underwater springs. We will also stop to admire the fossil clapper, the grotta del Fico (optional) and the pools of Venus.
The day will be rounded off with a dip at cala Biriala and a long break in cala Sisine.
How does the customized itinerary trip work?
In case of customized itineraries, time of departure and return is agreed with the group referent, with maximum flexibility from the MareOgliastra Lines and taking into account the timing of any necessary transfers from other locations in Sardinia (Cagliari, Villasimius, Alghero, Oristano). It is possible to organize group trips choosing to have the exclusive use of the boat or, on the contrary, sharing with other passengers on board.
The lines to the coast of Baunei are suitable for children who can easily access both the beach and the caves. The costs of the excursion depends on the number of passengers, the agreed itinerary and the period chosen. We offer favorable rates for groups.
